That looks amazing. I am at the stage of my playing when I need a course like this to get me to the soloing stage so I can solo comfortably over any jam track. After reading about your course I think this will do it. I would have bough your course before but have spent thousands of dollars buying courses that didn't do it for me and couldn't justify buying another course.

Jack McCann Says:

It's nice watching how much Tony enjoys playing the guitar. These courses would be a lot easier than the old school way of recording a song off the radio, then having to try and guess the Tabs or Chords as you played along, before hitting the stop and rewind button of the old sloppy cassette recorder so you could listen and try playing it again... I know there are plenty of players who know what i'm talking about

I like the concept and I realize that we all may hear the leads a bit different and some may come from a live vs. studio cut etc. What this does is makes some of the leads "appear" to be in correct so it helps me get started on them however my confidence level about the accuracy is not 100%. Maybe knowing the source you took it from could help. e.g. watching Carlos do BMW on video, he plays much of it up the neck (10th fret area G, D strings mostly) vs. lower where you play it. Just a thought. No negative intended. I already bought the course but haven't used a lot of it because of this. Just being authentic. Keep up the good work. Michael

I am really anxious to get my hands on some of the material. I have been spending a lot of time, as Tony did, repeating riffs over-and-over trying to learn. It is very frustrating, time consuming, and sometimes not fun. I have quite a few books, but without the audio/video, they are sometimes hard to follow. I would really like to try someting that actually shows me the right positions and notes to play, so I can spend more time playing and less time learning.

Great Idea... Even if you are just into music theory, it never hurts to learn individual riffs. Sometimes, it is those simple riffs that end up connecting the dots in a person's theory studies.

Hi Tony. I've really wanted to pick up some of your Guitar Leads lessons for awhile now, but the funds just haven't become available to me as of yet. So, I continue to toil on, trying to learn some things off of CDs, or tapes, or trying to find the Tab for certain songs, which can be really frustrating...and extremely slow-going! I'm really hoping you can help. Thank you for making such a generous offer via your contest! Peace...MJW

Fantastic is one word that explains it all. For a novice like me, who is trying to pick the strings, notes and scales after a long gap when I was busy being a journalist (which I still am), the lessons have been a real eye-opener. I wish I got them in my teens. Maybe, I'd have never become a journalist, but a musician.

Frank Capozzi Says:
May 13th, 2009 (Wed) at 02:06 pm
I would love to take these courses as a refresher course and not having picked up a guitar in a serious manner since 10/1981. The real side of life that prohibits me is that I am a single father of 4 children and have been unemployed since July 23, 2008, so any money I hustle is used to keep the family afloat. Your little snippets of fretboard work are great and are helpful to getting me back on track, but time is the big deficit and practice. By not having a course like this, I have to develop the time to sit and listen to the music and try to reproduce it as I hear it! Thank you very much for the little bit I have received and welcome more in the near future, if possible!!!!!

Wow! This is better than combining a tab site with YouTube. It looks and sounds so easy when you break it down like this. I might have to do a face-off with my band's mandolin player to win the chance to solo next time we do "Black Magic Woman" and "Long Train Runnin'". Thanks for the free lessons and the chance to win!
584.
Michael Says:
May 13th, 2009 (Wed) at 02:16 pm
Here's hoping that my "BLACK MAGIC WOMAN" can help me score these DVDs. You know, I just "CAN'T GET ENOUGH" of those mad licks. "DAY AFTER DAY" I rack my brain tryin' to score these tracks...just thinkin' about it makes me "FEEL LIKE MAKING LOVE" (Its a beutiful thang). So can ya "HELP" a brother out? I mean, "I KNOW A LITTLE", unfortunately "Baby, I can't guess the rest". (know what I'm sayin'?) Makes a fella want to go "LA BAMBA" on that slow guy in traffic. I mean why can't he grab a "LONG TRAIN RUNNIN'" instead? Anyway, I'd give up a hot date with "MISS AMERICA" if just "ONE OF THESE NIGHTS" I could break through this "PURPLE HAZE", manage to cross that "TEXAS FLOOD" and finally come to "THE END" of all this misery and pain. As it is, without those DVDs all I can say is: "THE THRILL IS GONE" baby.
These are NOT DVD's this is a CD. It contains no video, but has full and half speed audio, and accurate tabs.

Nice idea and easy to use. Half-speed option is a good idea too, and letting audio continue over and over is good for practicing. The only suggestion I would make is changing the type of tab notation to tab with the time notation (e.g. eighth, quarter, half notes, etc.) Even if you can't read music well, I find that helpful to visually see the timing while both playing and hearing it.

Great selection of songs! I love all things blues, so you know I'm glad to see Texas Flood, and Thr Thrill is Gone on the list. What guitarist dosen't love Hendrix, so Purple Haze is a great choice. Black Magic Woman is one of the best rock songs of all time. Although Carlos Santana did the definative version of the song, few people realize that it is a Peter Green tune.

This is a really cool opportunity. I slave every day away over the scales, modes, theory and exercises for one reason - because I want to know all there is. But this really could put some more fun back into this. But in addition there is another reason why I would really like to win. I know that by learning and playing these riffs and licks I am also going to be developing a better understanding of the styles of some of the masters that have walked this path before...and by absorbing and understanding what they have created, it will add more to what I will be able to play and create myself. So here's hoping! Thanks guys.

I actually have your volume 5 and out of all the guitar course I've bought over the years I've had the most fun with this one. I guess whats most unique about this course; as compared to others, is that it puts what I most loved about playing the guitar back into focus. Playing songs that I've loved since I first started listening to music. This is it! Ripping out the lead to Black Dog as my friends stand there with their jaws on the floor is what its all about. You also learn a lot about the talent that is involved from these pieces and begin to see into a deeper layer of the musicianship that these performers put together. I feel more connected to the piece as I begin to see the scales involved that the author used in putting it together. It's as close as you can get to a Matrix movie style of instantaneous download for a lead Guitar piece. Above all, it's just plain out fun. I've owned the volume 5 for two years now and this is still a course I pull out and play with. I can't say that about all the others I have stacked in the corner, chagrin {:> )

I believe that most people struggle getting through an entire song, especially if they are not very accomplished, and become frustrated and stop after making many mistakes. Learning the most memorable parts of a song might improve ability to the point where getting through an entire song becomes easier. Thanks!
